Too Much Talking

So, I complain that I get bored scrapping by myself, but when I get together with others I don't get much accomplished! I sure enjoy the company though.

I went to a crop with some friends on Friday night. Here are two cards I came up with while I was there. The lighting was horrible in the room where we met, so I had trouble seeing where I was coloring, but they turned out pretty good. Both images are from my RAK from Kari. I also used the flowers and button she sent me.

MCC Week of June 23

I created this card using Breeze, Ocean, Orange, and Citrus Leaf. Marjorie also stated that we could use Sunflower, but I left that out. I really wanted to use my new Swiss Dots CB folder. I love it! I keep this one really simple and sweet. I used a single flower stamp and a few brads for embellishments. I've had these orange brads forever! It was so great to put them onto a card.

Christmas in July

It looked like it was getting ready to storm this afternoon, so I opened my front door to bring in the trash can. I looked down as I opened the door and saw a big envelope. I had a package from Kari. I was shocked! I, of course, took it straight back to my scrap room to see what was inside. My jaw hit the floor. My son even asked what happened after he heard me gasp in delight. Oh, it is Christmas in July for me! I couldn't even fit all the amazing images in this picture.
What a wonderful RAK! It is so appreciated. :-)

Playing with Riley

Well, here is my first attempt to color a Riley. I had to have the tennis one because I played competitive tennis until I went to college. Once again, I am using old artist colored pencils I bought when I was taking an art class in college. I am going to keep working with them and try to get better with my shading. My tennis court is a little crooked. I didn't have much time or mojo to put the card together, so I just kept it simple. I like the random Rileys on the background paper. :-) The plain paper just didn't look right to me.
Won't it be fun for me to look back at these when I get better?
Have a great day! Thanks for stopping by my blog!

Sweet Family

I just love these papers. I don't have alot left either! Here is my sweet family, trying to pose for a picture on my daughter's first birthday.
I read an article Marjorie had posted on her blog, and I tried to follow the idea.
My journaling says "Nothing brings me more joy than being the wife and mother in this sweet family." :-)

New Look

It has taken me a long time, but through much trial and error, I have created 3 columns instead of two! Yeah! :-)

Bella Fun and Hot Air Balloons

Here is Dryabella (another RAK from Jenn). I used coloring pencils and markers on her. I watched a few Copic tutorials on YouTube, and those will be on my wish list. Until then, you'll have to deal with not so perfect coloring...
Oh, and I colored her skin, but it is hard to tell in the picture!
I used Chocolate CS for the card base. The flowers are from the Cottage Floral set. I used Sunflower, Holiday Red, Watermelon, and Orange inks. The sentiment is from Say It In Style (are you sick of those yet? I'm not!) :-).

I really want to get back into layouts this week. I hope to have time to post some fun creations.
Here is a typical weekend morning scene at our house. We hear the hot air balloons and Bryson wants to run out to see them. It is a lot of fun!
Have a Happy Monday!

First Try

Here is my first Stamping Bella image (given to me by Jenn). Her name is Eloise. Isn't she charming?

I don't have a lot of CTMH markers or any watercolor pencils to work with yet, so I used some old art class colored pencils I've had sitting in the top of my closet for years. I had a perfect skin color (I am very white :) ). I also used some CTMH colored pencils.
She's not perfect, but I am sure I will get better over time. Of course, I will probably end up with better products to use when I color in my images, but for now (because I am on a budget), I can stick to the pencils.
My husband is on crutches for 2 months. YES, 2 MONTHS. We are surviving the first few days. He has a microfracture on his hip, so no walking on putting pressure on it until mid August. We're good, and just glad he is home and on the road to recovery. :-)

RAK

Oh, what a WONDERFUL surprise I received today in the mail!
Jenn sent me some great images to play with, and I am so happy and grateful. I am the proud owner of that fabulous cupcake card she posted a few days ago. She's the greatest!
Off to play with the kids, but hopefully I'll be able to post more later. :-)
Hey Jenn, thanks again!

MCC

It's time for MCC (Marjorie's Color Challenge)!
This week, Marjorie chose Chocolate, Goldrush, Crystal Blue, Holiday Red, and Sunflower for the Color Challenge. I loved, loved a card I saw on Jenn's blog, so I decided to use her layout idea! (Thanks, Jenn!)
There is very little Goldrush on the card, because I don't own Goldrush ink yet. Also, I used Heavenly Blue CS and stamped on it with Crystal Blue. I am just trying to use up some things in the scrap bag!
Don't know why, but I am loving Rustic Flowers all over again. I hadn't used it in about a year, and now I can't put it away. I am also so glad my friend assured me that I needed the Say It In Style set. It's seen a lot of ink lately, too!

Right In Front of Me

Ok, so these supplies were left out on my table the other night after I created the *Wonder* layout. I had only a few minutes yesterday to sit down and create. I came up with this using some Free Spirit scraps and My Stickease. I am going to put it in my ready to send stash. I really need to work on building that up.

My husband had laparoscopic (sp?) surgery on his hip yesterday in TN, and he will be on crutches for 2 months! Oh my! I really need to make sure I try to keep my patience during this time... We pick him up at the airport tonight.

Wonder

Don't you just love when your child has that curious look in his/her eye? My little boy loves the zoo. He gets so excited to see all the different animals every time we go. I love how this picture has the turtle above his head.
I've seen lots of layouts using this concept from aquariums and zoos. I knew I needed to create one of my own.
I learned how to use a makeup sponge to color the white chipboard letters from the CTMH bulletin board. Pam K. posted instructions, and it is so easy! (MANY thanks, Pam!) I've really enjoyed showing some of my scrapbooking friends this wonderful technique, too! I used Honey ink to color the whole letter. Then, I used the background stamp from Rustic Flowers over top with Autumn Terracota ink. I added more details with Indian Corn Blue(ICB) and inked the edges with ICB. I love how distressed it looks!

I am a big fan of the Hodgepodge Alphabet set! I am so glad I talked myself into buying it!

Four in a Week?

Ok, so in the past five days, I have posted four times. That is really good for me. Now, you all see how I try to spend most of my time during naps! It is creative therapy and time online for this tired mama. :-)
My fifth anniversary is coming up in about a week. I made this card - very quickly - this afternoon. It is simple, but I wouldn't expect my husband to want much more than this card. I just need to be sure to write something extra special on the inside! I am really loving my cuttlebug folders. I need to get some more! They really add a nice touch a plain piece of cardstock.
I just noticed that the blue strip is crooked. I will be fixing that ASAP! Oops!

Finally...A Layout!

Well, here it is. I've been pondering this layout for way too long, so I decided to put the finishing touches on it today. I need to be able to move onto other projects!

It was fun to use these pastel colors because I haven't used them a lot on other layouts for Scarlett. I have all these embellishments just waiting to be used on pages. Oh, and don't you just love the embossed Big Blooms? I really had to work with the petals to give them life again, but it worked out great!

I used a spiral and a brad on one of the flowers. That idea was inspired by a Marjorie creation.
Sorry for the pitiful picture. I took the pictures in Scarlett's room, and now I see that was a bad idea!

I used the picture of her cake as the title (still not crazy about that, but I had to have the picture of the cake for memory sake), and there is hidden journaling under the big picture on the second page.
I realized today that I have been scrapping way too symmetrical lately. I guess it feels "safe" or something. I really need to step back out of that box.

Father's Day and MCC

Like how I shortened Marjorie's Color Challenge to MCC? I'm trying to start a trend. Ha!
I made this swing card for my dad for Father's Day. I had a difficult time deciding where to use Cranberry, and settled on the small stamp/embellishments. I have another card I will post later today.

Fun Card

I've been watching more of Kim's tutorials. I created this swing card to use as an example for future card workshops. It didn't take much time at all!
I haven't created much in the past week. I thought I would be so productive because my husband was out of town, but I just didn't have it in me! I am working on my daughter's first birthday layout. I really want it to be perfect, and I really need to get over that because I'll never finish if I don't.
Have a great Monday! Thanks for all the sweet comments you all leave me. They make me smile. :-)

Pretzels

I think her expression says it ALL! It was so fun to watch. :-)

The layout is super simple. I wanted to create today, but wasn't really feeling creative. Know what I mean?

This was out of my box because I usually use more "girlie" colors with her layouts, but I really like how these colors go with her dress. Seeing Marjorie's new challenge made me think of using this paper packet. Thanks for the inspiration!

You Can Do It!

I made this very simple, yet powerful card for my dear husband a few months ago. Since then, he has lost over 60 lbs. through serious dieting. He looks like the man I met six years ago, and I couldn't be prouder! Oh, and he keeps it on the fridge!

Fun Pictures

No new artwork! :-(
Not your usual pictures, but I really love them. They are from our trip to the beach over Memorial Day weekend.
They show a lot about their personalities without being face shots.
Scarlett is still learning how to walk on places that are not flat and solid. She loves the beach. She wouldn't stop the whole time we were there. Very cute.
Bryson is growing up. He is taking in everything and becoming a little more daring each day.
Have a great Monday!
